The name of the tour takes its inspiration from the ancient bailiffs (landfogti) who, on behalf of the sovereign Cantons, administered from 1515, for over three centuries, the bailiwick of Blenio. The route winds through the middle Blenio Valley, passing through Lottigna, where the monumental palace of the bailiffs, dating back to the year 1500, is located. It is now home to one of the 10 regional ethnographic museums of the Canton Tessin. This route can be followed in both directions; the Dongio-Lottigna-Aquila itinerary and return through Ponto Valentino is a bit more demanding, as two sections of the itinerary, between Comprovasco-Lottigna and Grumo-Torre, have to be tackled uphill. The opposite travelling direction is much smoother and less tiring. Although classified as "easy", the route is not suitable for children under the age of 12, as on a short stretch of the path between Grumo and Torre, marked on the map with the danger symbol, you must be extremely vigilant. Monuments along the route: the Romanesque church of San Remigio in Corzoneso Piano and the ethnographic museum in Lottigna (
