Tour description

The tour starts in Dagro, a typical village of the Malvaglia Valley, which lies on a terrace, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the valley plain and the mountains of the Riviera Valley. Dagro is easily reachable from Malvaglia by cableway or by the paved road that winds up the entire valley. The Malvaglia valley is renowned for its five so-called "villas". These are ancient villages, that until the early 1900s were inhabited all year round. Dagro is one of these villages, very panoramic and located on a terrace on the sunniest right side of the Malvaglia valley, arrival point of the cableway departing from Malvaglia. Six wooden buildings, in Dagro, dating back to the 14th century, were inventoried. The first part of the tour winds along the partly paved-partly dirt road, that from Dagro first leads to Anzano and then climbs up to Cusiè. Once you reach the car park, you proceed along the path that leads to the Quarnèi hut and then you turn and climb along a path to the highest point of the route, at an altitude of 1822 meters above sea level. There, you follow a very panoramic path on the Malvaglia Valley and the mountains that overlook it, mostly exposed to South/South-East, crossing at high altitude small typical villages and conifer plantations. Coming out of the woods, you find yourself near Cascine di Dagro, and then descend along the road through flowery meadows to the Sass Malt restaurant and the top station of the cableway.
